I’ve deployed the firezone 0.7.6 Wireguard VPN container and like it. I’m looking for a supported solution and have tried walking through the quickstart documented on this site for the hosted version and for the life of me, I don’t understand it. The 0.7.6 version had simple readme’s to set up a VPN and came with a web gui for managing clients. I don’t quite see how to use the firezone web portal to set up a wireguard VPN server and deploy clients. Is there readme that goes beyond the quickstart that walks someone though setting up a wireguard VPN managed by firezone using the firezone portal?
Hi @rschmitt - there’s a more detailed guide at Deploy • Firezone Docs.
You’ll want to start by creating an account, then deploying a Gateway (or several), then installing the Firezone client for your platform.
Then, you can define the network(s) and or hosts to access (we call these Resources).
That will get you a simple VPN-like setup.
Thanks, I was following that over the weekend. I guess my question is a little different. With the firezone 0.7.6, I had deployed it on my cloud provider (Digital Ocean) so the management of the VPN was on the same VM as my cloud host. With the web version of FireZone, it seems they are separate and therefore require the Firezone subscriptions as well as the Digital Ocean subscriptions. I had thought perhaps the web version of Firezone included the VPC hosting as well, but the docs seem to say that’s seperate. Perhaps Firezone Remote Management is geared towards sites that provide a lot more than a VPN. We’re simply looking for a solution that creates wireguard configurations for users. They’d interact with it very rarely once they’ve configured the VPN. The pricing doesn’t seem to fit the model I have in mind. That’s why I thought I might be missing something.
